Diana López trabaja a partir de la violencia cotidiana en nuestras ciudades ; similar a la crudeza mimética del artista venezolano , Claudio Perna, apropiandose de los procedimientos policiales. Si la imagen inicial de Muchacha es tomada de la prensa amarillista , ella se aleja de la imagen con toda su cruda vulgaridad, para introducirla , ironicamnete en un mundo de significados esteticos de ¨belleza¨y ¨confort¨, arraigados en amplios sectores de la sociedad venezolana(el tápiz) haciendo de la muerte, el asesinato y la violencia, hechos cotidianos, tan intimos casi como el tápiz decorativo y kitsch.

Diana López works from the daily violence in our cities; similar to the mimetic crudeness of the Venezuelan artist, Claudio Perna, appropriating the police procedures. If the initial image of Muchacha is taken from the sensationalist tabloid , she moves away from the image with all its crude vulgarity, to introduce it, ironically, in a world of aesthetic meanings of "beauty" and "comfort", rooted in broad sectors of Venezuelan society (the tapestry) making of death, murder and violence, daily events, almost as intimate as the decorative tapestry and kitsch.
